The organizer for ANTEC 2025 is the Elsipogtog First Nation – Education Authority Inc.

The Elsipogtog First Nation – Education Authority Inc. has formalized its partnership and funding relationship with Canada. This commits both parties to explore new ways to improve educational outcomes, and to address the funding needs for special education that is needed for our students. While governing our own educational system, we are able to better understand and support the needs of First Nations students.

Before 1984, education in Elsipogtog was federally controlled, with the Minister of Indian Affairs solely responsible for education policy. In 1985, the Elsipogtog First Nation Band took over control of its education system, placing it under the authority of Chief and Council, with input from parents. While there were initial challenges, progress was made through partnerships with the local provincial school district and the provincial Department of Education. In 2017, the federal government introduced the Transformation of First Nation Education policy, allowing First Nation communities to negotiate Regional Education Agreements (REA) with the federal government based on provincial comparability. Elsipogtog successfully negotiated a 5-year REA, signed in 2021.
