Anqotum (I care for our environment) Resource Management works for eight Mi’kmaq communities. As an Indigenous, science-based organization, Anqotum's team is passionate about various environmental initiatives that protect maqamikew (land), samqwan (water), and wisisk (animals). These initiatives include the collection of traditional knowledge, habitat restoration, education, research, and fostering stewardship and meaningful partnership. Anqotum values strong community outreach that ignites curiosity, awareness, and capacity in each and every youth and our communities.

Promoting Lifelong Learning Program

We will share a description of a unique outreach program - a model of connecting youth to their environment and their communities and promoting careers in science - and its growth and successes for the past 11 years. We will engage workshop participants in an example of a hands-on activity we feature in our program.
