
Michael Edwards
Michael moved to Canada from Scotland in 1992 to attend the University of New Brunswick. During his more than 25 years with Science East, he’s done a bit of everything including planning school programs and camps, designing exhibits, delivering professional learning to teachers, helping develop new curriculum, performing science shows and collaborating with organizations and communities around the province. In addition to his work with Science East, he has a regular segment on CBC Radio to share his love of science with the general public.
Collaborative Development of Storybook STEM Kits
The session will discuss the collaborative project between Science East, a hands-on science organization and Elsipogtog School to create inquiry-based STEM Kits highlighting Two-Eyed Seeing using books by Canadian Indigenous authors and hands-on classroom activities.
Inquiry Based STEM Learning Across the Curriculum
This session will highlight how to teach classroom science via hands-on, inquiry based activities. Participants will be able try a design & build lesson taken from Science East and Elsipogtog School's Storybook STEM kits.
