Melissa Marie Googoo Dedam, a proud Mi’kmaq woman from Elsipogtog First Nation, is a resilient educator, wife, and mother of six. A former principal of Elsipogtog School, she now mentors future educators at UNB and serves as a subject coordinator for ASD-N. A survivor of trauma, she embodies perseverance, inspiring her community to embrace education and empowerment. “I will, I can, watch me!”

Participants will explore how to design culturally relevant and visually appealing materials, such as flashcards, posters, social media content, and more, that celebrate Mi’kmaq language and culture. The session will focus on practical, step-by-step demonstrations and provide participants with hands-on strategies to empower students and communities in embracing and preserving their linguistic heritage.
