Denis Roy is an Indigenous Education Support Teacher in the Anglophone East School District. He specializes in traditional knowledge, historical perspectives, and treaty education. Of mixed ancestry and mixed upbringing. He learned from his father, Elders and Knowledge Keepers. His grandfather was the last family member to be fluent in Mi’kmawi’simk. He has a passion for the language.

Finally, the presentation will delve into toponymy, exploring how place names hold specific meanings rooted in Mi'kmaq cultural and ecological context.
