Sister Dorothy Moore

Sister Dorothy Moore

Sr. Dorothy Moore is an Elder, Mi'kmaw Activist, and an Educator from the Maulpetu Reserve. She is a "trail blazer" in Mi'kmaq Education because she persevered through adverse social conditions such as racism to receive an education in her early years. Sister Dorothy Moore is a Residential School Survivor, and she tells her story about her education journey in a documentary called "Sister Dorothy Moore: A Life of Courage, Determination and Love" produced and directed by Dr. Mary Jane Harkins of the Faculty of Education at Mount Saint Vincent University. It is important that her story is shared with educators to have a better understanding of L'nu education in Nova Scotia.
